Self-monitoring
The Danish Maritime Authority can allow certain ships to carry out some mandatory surveys themselves.
The surveys are held in accordance with the Technical Regulation on Surveys and Self-Monitoring. This technical regulation is available from the Danish Maritime Authority’s database on legislation, Regeldatabasen.
This system applies to every second periodical main survey of special purpose ships (ships worthy of preservation, pleasure fishing vessels, etc.) as well as to the intermediate survey of fishing vessels with a length of or above 15 metres, but below 24 metres.
In connection with these ship types, self-monitoring can be arranged with the ship surveyor at the next survey. If such an arrangement is made, the following are used:
In case of self-monitoring of special purpose ships the following documents are used: 1: Periodical survey 2: Survey of the external part of the bottom 3: Declaration 4: Guidelines 5: Certificate for use by an authorised radio company
In case of self-monitoring of fishing vessels (15-24 metres) the following documents are used: 1: Intermediate survey of ships constructed before 1999 2: Intermediate survey of ships constructed after 1999 3: Declaration 4: Guidelines 5: Declaration for use by an authorised radio company
Fishing vessels below 15 metres must carry out annual self-monitoring surveys, in which connection the following documents are used: 1: Danish version 2: Guidelines for Danish version 3: Greenland version (currently being drafted)
