 Brian Mikkelsen meets Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of transport

On Thursday 10 June 2010, the DMA and the EU Commission convene a number of prominent actors in the development of international shipping at the conference entitled “Meeting the Challenges for Global Shipping: Policies and Strategies”



Minister for Economic and Business Affairs Brian Mikkelsen and EU Commissioner for Transport Siim Kallas will open the conference at

 

Scandic Hotel, Vester Søgade 6, Copenhagen V

on Thursday 10 June 2010 at 9.30 am

 

The conference will be open to members of the press from 9.30 to 10.30 am, and there will be an opportunity to get comments to the issues on the agenda from Mr Brian Mikkelsen and Mr Siim Kallas.

The conference will consist of presentations and debate on the most important maritime problems of today with special focus on the way forward after the economic crisis:

 

  • What framework conditions for international shipping would be the most beneficial to growth and development?
  • What strategies should be pursued by the companies and authorities?
  • How do we handle the climate and environmental challenge, the piracy threat and the issue of safe navigation in the Arctic regions?

 

The day will be concluded by a reception at 6.30 pm, for which members of the press are also welcome.
