New regulations: Order on the construction and equipment of ships revised

18. May 2010
On 1 July 2010, a new version of the set of regulations Notice B will enter into force. Get an overview here.

The revised Order is closely related to the ongoing work within the United Nations’ International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the EU.

Major amendments to the revised Order include the introduction of new regulations on ship stability, emergency lighting and fire-detection systems on passenger ships, improved framework conditions for the design development of machinery and electrical installations as well as passenger ships’ possibility of returning to a port after having been damaged.

A more detailed overview of the new regulations is available here.

The revised Order is available in Danish on www.lovtidende.dk and www.retsinformation.dk , and it has number 490 of 11 May 2010. The revised Order will be available in English on this website before the regulations take effect on 1 July 2010. The Order contains a more detailed introduction to the new regulations, which are printed as underlined text.

A consolidated Notice B from the Danish Maritime Authority is generally promulgated once a year. As something new, regulations that enter into force during the interval between two promulgations have been added in a separate appendix.
