Now the recommendations are here: This is how liquefied natural gas will become the new green fuel for ships
For more than a year, the Danish Maritime Authority and a number of partners have worked on the possibilities of using liquefied natural gas as an environmentally friendly alternative for ships’ ordinary fuels.

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is an environmentally- and climate-friendly fuel that has been subject to closer scrutiny in the recent year: Is it possible to make it a competitive alternative to ordinary bunker fuel by means of an effective infrastructure and good framework conditions?
A draft final report for the project has just been published. The report focuses especially on what must be done to make LNG a competitive fuel in short-sea shipping in the Baltic Sea, the North Sea and the English Channel. Now everyone is invited to comment on the recommendations made by the project partners.
The draft final project report and appendices can be downloaded here .
If you would like to comment on the recommendations given in the report, you can take part in our online discussion forum.
The various project partners are the Nordic countries, Belgium, ports in the Baltic Sea area as well as several major energy companies and private companies. The Danish Maritime Authority has coordinated the work.
The project has been supported by the EU and the Danish Maritime Fund.
