 Green Ship of the Future

Green Ship of the Future

Shipping is a climate-friendly means of transport, but Danish companies, shipowners and research institutions within the Blue Denmark will make even greater efforts for the climate and the environment. Consequently, A.P. Moller-Maersk Ltd., MAN Diesel Ltd., Aalborg Industries Ltd., Odense Steel Shipyard Ltd., FORCE Technology, the Danish Centre for Maritime Technology and the Danish Maritime Authority have joined forces to create an open forum.

Under the headline ‘Green Ship of the Future’, the companies involved take a great step towards reducing CO2 emissions and pollution from ships. The vision is to develop environmentally- and energy-efficient technologies intended to reduce emissions from shipping. The idea is to achieve this by connecting specific research and innovation projects under the title Green Ship of the Future.

Green Ship will raise the climate agenda of the maritime world by making visible the efforts made and creating synergy and coherence between the various projects. The results of the cooperation within the framework of ‘Green Ship of the Future’ will become an important part of the display window created for Danish industry in connection with the Climate Change Conference in 2009 (COP15).
