The Danish Maritime Authority has developed and implemented a common quality management system that has been constructed in accordance with the requirements stipulated in the DS/EN ISO 9001:2015 standard, referred to as ISO 9001 in the following. The quality management system covers the operational parts of the flag State, port State and coast State related activities in Ship Survey, Certification and Manning; Safety of Navigation, National Waters; Seafarers, Certification and Social Affairs; Danish Ship Register; and Corporate Systems and Development.
DNV-GL (previously Danish Standards Certification) performs annual external audits of the Danish Maritime Authority's quality management system with a view to ensuring compliance with the ISO 9001 standard.
The system has been ISO 9001 certified since 1997.
The quality management system consists of the following:
- An overall level with a quality manual that contains the quality policy, vision, description of the organisation as well as a description of the design and associated processes of the quality management system.
- Local auxiliary systems and tools with instructions, guidelines, checklists, forms, tables, certificate templates, etc.
