The Danish Maritime Authority and the Danish Pleasure Craft Safety Board were well represented at Maritime Cultural Days in Korsør this weekend. Almost 300 visitors chose to embark the buoy tender ’POUL LØWENØRN’.

Maritime Cultural Days in Korsør is an annual event that runs for almost a week and culminates with a bang on a Saturday full of activities in and around the port. On this day, a number of the port's companies, institutions, interest organisations as well as citizens and other visitors gather to show and present what they can do and which task they are solving.

The buoy tender ’POUL LØWENØRN’ was the contribution of the Danish Maritime Authority to the event, and on Saturday the vessel was open to visitors from 10:00 to 17:00.

- We think that around 200-300 persons of all ages visited the vessel, and there was great interest in knowing more about the tasks performed by the Danish Maritime Authority and the equipment used. In general, the visitors said that it was exciting to get on board ’POUL LØWENØRN’ and see the vessel from the inside since, normally, they see it only when it is lying alongside in Korsør, says Jørgen Royal Petersen, the Service and Maintenance Centre in Korsør.

The ’SejlSikkert’ (safe navigation) campaign of the Danish Pleasure Craft Safety Board was represented with a stand where the visitors could get good advice about how to move about safely at sea and how to check one's life-jacket.
