Contact with the DMA during the COVID-19 situation

The Danish Maritime Authority's employees work from home to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Some services may have extended case processing time, but the DMA still strives to provide its services, including response to inquiries by telephone and email.

Personal attendance at our premises is not possible. However, documents can be submitted for ship registration.

Ship registration
The Danish Maritime Authority's Register of Shipping will still be able to receive documents including documents for Daily Log. Registrations are expected to be done as usual - in some cases, however, with a slightly longer processing time. Processed documents cannot be expected to be delivered immediately after registration.

Certificates of competency
As a seafarer, you can still get your certificates so you can continue to sail. If your application is not urgent, we would recommend that you wait until the situation has normalised.

Ship survey
As a general rule, all surveys are postponed at the moment. To have a survey postponed and/or a ship certificate extended, it requires an approval from the Danish Maritime Authority. In the case of a classed vessel, an inquiry must be made to the classification society, which will coordinate with the Danish Maritime Authority. For other ships, inquiries must be sent to the Danish Maritime Authority by email: syn@dma.dk. The Danish Maritime Authority will also contact the vessels where a survey has already been agreed. Other requests for ship approvals etc. should be addressed to the Danish Maritime Authority by email: cfs@dma.dk.

The courses for persons in charge of medical care are cancelled at the moment. You can keep track of developments on our website:

If you are in a situation where your medical care certificate expires, please write to cms@dma.dk and we will find a solution.
