The Boat Register is one of the Register of Shipping's three registers. Commercial ships with a gross tonnage below 20 can be admitted to either the Boat Register or the Register of Shipping. Commercial vessels with a gross tonnage below 5 can be admitted only to the Boat Register.
We cannot register mortgages in vessels with a gross tonnage below 5.
When your ship is admitted to the Boat Register, it will be furnished with a number that consists of the letters FTJ followed by a figure. That is the ship's number. The number must be affixed clearly to the ship as such.
