Here you can see the annual figures for the number of seafarers on board ships registered in the Danish International Register of Shipping (DIS).
The record is based on shipowners reporting the number of seafarers on board their ships on one specific day, once per year
Variation in the figures can be caused by changes in the combination of ship types in DIS as well as their work on the day of reporting.
The variation can also be caused by parts of the DIS fleet having more or less occupation than pervious years, which can influence the size of the crews.
The records from 2017 and forward differs from the earlier records up to and including 2016, where the figures were based on the recordings for embarkation and disembarkation of the seafarers, coming from the shipowners. The earlier records are based on many manual entries, thus some degree of inaccuracies can be expected due to typing errors etc.
